Student Communications

Learn how MUSC students stay informed, promote events and opportunities, and share their experiences responsibly.

Connecting students to what matters most

Student Communications brings together the primary ways MUSC students receive timely information, share events and opportunities, and engage with campus life. From official newsletters to social media guidance, this hub outlines how communication works, when to use each channel, and how students can participate while upholding professional standards.

Share events and opportunities

Students and student organizations play an important role in shaping campus life. MUSC uses Engage, the official platform for student organizations and events, to promote activities, meetings, and opportunities in a consistent and accessible way. All events supported by Student Government Association funding or promoted broadly must be listed on Engage, which helps ensure information reaches students effectively and remains easy to discover.

Engage helps students:

  • Discover upcoming events and activities
  • Track involvement opportunities
  • Connect with student organizations

Engage listings often complement Student Broadcast submissions and help ensure consistent visibility across campus.

Stay informed with Student Broadcast

Student Broadcast is MUSC’s official student newsletter, sponsored by the Student Government Association and the Office of Student Engagement. It is distributed to all MUSC students three times each week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, helping students stay informed about what is happening across campus and in the surrounding community.

See what's shared with students each week

Student Broadcast brings together information students need, including:

  • Discovering student organization events and programs
  • Exploring leadership and involvement opportunities
  • Staying aware of campus announcements and key deadlines
  • Accessing resources and initiatives that support student life

Because every student automatically receives Student Broadcast, it serves as the primary way to stay connected to what matters most across campus.

Know when to expect important updates

Student Broadcast is delivered to all MUSC students three times each week — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

This consistent schedule ensures students receive timely updates without needing to search multiple platforms or monitor several channels.

Share your message with the student community

Anyone with a valid MUSC email address may submit messages to be included in the Student Broadcast Messages.

Key submissions details include:

  • Submissions must be received by noon:
    • Friday for Monday's broadcast
    • Tuesday for Wednesday's broadcast
    • Thursday for Friday's broadcast
  • Content should be concise and relevant to all MUSC students.
  • Messages may be submitted up to twice a month for one specific program or event, but no more than once in a given week.

For advertising activities or news specific to your college, please contact your dean's office.

Broadcast Your Message

Share your experience on social media

MUSC encourages students to share their experiences, achievements, and involvement on social media. Student voices help showcase the energy, diversity, and impact of the MUSC community while building connection and pride.

Students are encouraged to share:

  • Campus experiences and events
  • Academic milestones and accomplishments
  • Student organization involvement
  • Community engagement activities

Students are also asked to remember to:

  • Identify yourself as a MUSC student only when appropriate and provide an appropriate disclaimer that helps distinguish your views from those of MUSC.
  • Be thoughtful of your social media content. Remember, off-campus and off-duty, you still represent MUSC and your profession.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with patients and their families and do not post anything about a patient.
  • Not use any MUSC computer that handles sensitive data or supports critical functions to access social networking sites or personal email accounts.
  • Familiarize yourself with the MUSC Social Media Policy.

When sharing content, students are expected to uphold the professional standards associated with a health sciences institution.
