Nursing alum Rinne Sade, ’75, encourages all MUSC alumni and friends to join her at Alumni Weekend 2025.

I don’t feel 50 years older than I did when we graduated in 1975. But I hope maybe 50 years wiser!

I am so looking forward to our Golden Graduate Reunion weekend and want to encourage my classmates to come to both of the evening events at least, even if they cannot make it to everything.

You’ll meet our current dean — everyone is very excited about Dean Cathy Durham. Her enthusiasm for our college is contagious, and after last year’s Alumni Weekend, all who attended were thrilled about the changes happening now.

The nursing building we remember still stands as we knew it. It’s shape of a nurse’s cap is a detail that was not part of our '71 - ’75 curriculum, and since learning this many years ago, I have looked at our old building with more respect and feelings of gratitude. The outside is familiar, but the improvements inside are astounding. You can see this for yourself if you come to the reunion.

I’m proud to be a graduate of the MUSC College of Nursing, and I hope each of my classmates feels the same. Did you know that our class had a 100% passing rate on the first try for the State Board Exam after graduation? That’s quite a feat that not many nursing programs can claim, even today. (As one website put it, “This milestone is relatively rare and typically reflects exceptional preparation, faculty dedication, and student commitment.")

We also knew how to have fun, and hopefully still do!

Please make plans to be here for the Golden Graduate reunion celebration, Feb. 28 - 30th.

We have gathered lots of pictures of the “old days,” so join us in laughing about wearing those awful blue shoes, starching our caps and plastering them on our mirrors, riding the old bus to the College of Charleston’s Cistern for classes, Dr. Fink in our Freshman year, Miss Kerr for Med-Surg in our Junior Year (and later seeing the value of her tough expectations), Ms. Workman and Ms. Bush in the Dorm, Alhambra, Citadel weekends and so much more!

I hope to see you then!
