We provide technical support and training for University educational software. As technology is expanding every minute, educational software is becoming a staple in many learning structures. Properly used, educational software can make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun. Educational software can be utilized to support or extend teaching and learning experiences. Effective integration is achieved when the use of educational software is consistent in supporting curricular goals.

Blackboard Ally

Blackboard Ally is integrated accessibility tool in our Learning Management System which helps us build a more inclusive learning environment by increasing awareness and providing detailed insight and guidance to instructors on how to improve the accessibility of their content. Additionally, it provides learners with the opportunity to download content in alternative formats for a more personalized approach. 

CourseEval

Support: evals@musc.edu
CoursEval is MUSC's online survey application for setting up and receiving confidential student evaluations of courses and instructors. Once evaluations are complete, instructors can use the system to view their results online.

D2L Brightspace

Brightspace is MUSC's Learning Management System where faculty can use courses set up by Enrollment Services to host content and engage students in learning outside of the classroom. Brightspace is designed to provide faculty and students with an easily accessible online course tool that promotes integration and collaboration, activity-based learning, critical reflection, etc.

Some of the key features of the D2L Brightspace platform include: 

  • Flexible tools, activities and assessments that are easy to add and configure.
  • Modern, accessible, mobile-friendly interface that is easy to use
  • Stable platform where updates are provided seamlessly, without downtime
  • Learning analytics tools instructors can use to track engagement with courses
  • E-Portfolios that allow for learners to demonstrate learning over time.
  • The most responsive LMS for digital accessibility. Features include a built-in checker and automatic video captioning within the system.

The Microsoft 365 suite at MUSC offers tools such as Teams, One Note, Forms, Sway and more. These tools center around efficient productivity, collaboration, and communication.

 

Panopto

Panopto is a flexible, easy-to-use lecture capture solution. Panopto includes a video content management system for uploading, managing and sharing all of your video and audio files. It comes with built-in video analytics, a web-based video editor, automatic encoding to ensure your videos play efficiently on any device, and a unique search engine that helps your students review material mentioned or shown in their course videos.

To become a Creator with MUSC’s Panopto instance, complete the lesson and form. You will need to sign in with your MUSC credentials to complete the form. If a student would like to be a Creator, contact your instructor to create an Assignment Folder where you will have Creator access to that specific folder.

Poll Everywhere

Support: polleverywhere@musc.edu
Real-time polling allows you to transform one-way lectures into two-way conversations, instantly. Project responses up on a screen in front of class, and this low-pressure way of getting everyone to contribute also makes students feel empowered.

Email polleverywhere@musc.edu to become a Presenter. MUSC presenter licenses can only have MUSC students and residents as responders.

Turnitin

Turnitin is a suite of tools in our Learning Management System for improving student writing that includes ways of checking the originality of the writing to prevent plagiarism and providing detailed instructor and peer feedback for each student.
