College of Dental Medicine Graduates from 1971 and 1972

The first and second graduating classes of the MUSC James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine recently celebrated their Golden Graduates Reunion. Graduates of 1971 and 1972 were hosted by the MUSC Office of Alumni Affairs and President and Mrs. Cole on Oct. 26-27 in Charleston, South Carolina. Their Golden Grads Reunion honored the 50th anniversary of the classes’ graduations.

Drs. Robert Sweet and James McClary from the Class of 1971 and Drs. David Beck, David Ivey, Charles Jones and Brent Klinger from the Class of 1972 attended with their families.

MUSC celebrates graduates’ 50th graduation anniversaries with a reunion and the presentation of gold medallions inscribed with the MUSC insignia. A special thanks went to the Class of 1971, who rescheduled their original reception due to the pandemic.

The occasion also marked the college’s 50th anniversary of graduating oral health providers – a milestone for dental and oral health care in South Carolina. The state’s only dental school, the College of Dental Medicine has graduated over 2,800 alumni since 1971.
