I hope this issue of the alumni e-newsletter finds you enjoying summer and taking some time for relaxation. Here at CGS, the research of our faculty and trainees continues in full swing, but many of our programs are taking a break from classroom activities.

Our 43 SURP students (Summer Undergraduate Research Program) are on campus, taking a customized curriculum and enjoying a deep immersion in a research laboratory. Our six PREP scholars (post-baccalaureate program) are also on campus, participating in skills-building workshops and finalizing the choice of laboratories for their research immersion. For me, these programs are uplifting and reassuring, giving me a glimpse of the future biomedical work force. These students have the spark of scientific curiosity, an enjoyment for the craft of research, and a commitment to making discoveries that will solve some of the mysteries of human biology and lead to better treatments for human disease.

In this issue of the e-newsletter, we are spotlighting Catherine Mills, a Ph.D. student in the drug discovery program. We are also highlighting our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and pointing you to exciting research findings from our CGS faculty.

Please let us know how best to engage you, our alumni.
