​The College of Graduate Studies has a new dean, Dr. Michael J. Bouchard.

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is excited to introduce Michael J. Bouchard, Ph.D. as the new dean of the College of Graduate Studies (CGS). Bouchard brings a wealth of experience and a distinguished career in both research and education to his new role.

About Michael J. Bouchard, Ph.D.

Bouchard earned his B.S. in microbiology from Cornell University and his Ph.D. in microbiology from Columbia University. He conducted post-doctoral research at New York University, focusing on the mechanisms that control hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication. His groundbreaking research has been published in prestigious journals, including Science, and has significantly advanced our understanding of HBV replication and pathogenesis.

Before joining MUSC, Bouchard served as a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and of microbiology and immunology at Drexel University College of Medicine. He also led the Division of Biomedical Science Programs in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and Professional Studies at Drexel, overseeing all research-intensive graduate programs and associated academic partnerships.
