Dear CHP alumni and donors,

I’m pleased to share with you that the College of Health Professions is now ranked No. 4 in the nation among other Colleges of Health Professions for total National Institute of Health funding. This is a tremendous accomplishment and speaks to the caliber of research being conducted across the college. I hope you will join me in celebrating this and several other recent achievements.

  • Kit Simpson, DrPH, professor in the Department of Healthcare Leadership & Management, received an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) grant award for a project titled “Leveraging Health Systems Telehealth and Informatics Infrastructure to Create a Continuum of Services for COVID-19 Screening, Testing and Treatment: A Learning Health System Approach.” She will be working on the project in collaboration with the MUSC Center for Telehealth. Annie Simpson, Ph.D., associate professor, and Jillian Harvey, MPH, Ph.D., associate professor, will be co-investigators on the project.
  • David Morrisette, PT, Ph.D., professor in the Division of Physical Therapy, was named the winner of the 2021 Lisa Saladin Lecture Award given by the South Carolina Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association (SCAPTA). The conference will be held virtually this year and Morrisette will deliver his speech March 27.
  • The new Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology Division successfully hosted the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Jan. 21 and 22 for their accreditation site visit. Information about the program’s candidacy status is expected around June 2021.

I want to thank you for your continued support, and I hope that you and your loved ones continue to stay well.
