A message from Dean Huja

Greetings. On Sept. 26, the MUSC James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine held an alumni and friends reception at the home of Dr. Eric Hamrick, Class of 1982, and Whitney Hamrick in Pelzer, South Carolina. Dr. David Watson, Class of 1974, and Gail Watson assisted by hosting a barbecue with the help of many of our generous alumni. I was delighted to meet so many of our alumni and friends from the area. The event allowed me to provide a college update and our exciting plans for the future. We were able share the kickoff of the college’s $10 million campaign for student scholarships

Over the last two months, I have also been fortunate to attend the Piedmont and Pee Dee District meetings to share our story; Dr. Tariq Javed spoke on my behalf at the Coastal District meeting. At these meetings I have had a chance to listen to so many of our alumni and members of these organizations and groups. We are currently setting the groundwork for our 2020 to 2025 strategic plan that will chart our future.

Finally, I so look forward to meeting you all at our homecoming. Our Scholars Day, which highlights the scholarly and research endeavors of our students, is on 2/20/20 (easy to remember!) and homecoming starts the next day. As we move into the holiday season, our faculty members, students, and staff from the college wish you all the very best.
