Greetings from the MUSC James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine!

As I write this letter, we have just wrapped up our annual Dental Medicine Homecoming! As always, it was a fun weekend of events, reunions, and gatherings, and reconnecting with former classmates, friends, teachers, and colleagues!

Over the weekend, I provided a college update at the alumni continuing education (CE) program. So many new and exciting things are happening at our college and we are glad that many of you came back to see for yourself how we have grown and changed over the years. Some of our faculty members are retiring and we are welcoming new faculty members and staff. We also have a number of new initiatives underway for the benefit of our students and clinical education. We recently received a prestigious national recognition from our peers, the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Gies award for an Academic Institution for Innovation. We will be recognized at the ADEA Annual Sessions Meeting in National Harbor, Maryland in March.

Our alumni luncheon, which is held in conjunction with the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA) meeting each year, will be held Friday, April 24 at noon. If you are planning to attend the SCDA meeting, please consider joining us for this event.

Thank you to those who have supported our Pay It Forward Scholarship Campaign! With student debt on the rise, we have responsibly embarked on a $10 million scholarship campaign for the students of the MUSC JBE College of Dental Medicine. That’s why your support of our scholarships is needed now more than ever!

As always, I thank each of you for all that you do for the MUSC James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine! Without the support of our alumni we would not be able to educate the next generation of oral health care providers for our communities and our state. You are making a tremendous impact not only in our communities, but also for the college!
