Dental student takes first place in Hatton Competition at annual American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research conference

Jaden Lee, D.M.D./Ph.D. student, and Ozlem Yilmaz, D.D.S., Ph.D.

The annual meeting and exposition of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) took place March 21-26, 2022, in Atlanta, Georgia.

Jaden Lee, D.M.D./Ph.D. student, won first place in the senior category in the highly prestigious Hatton Competition under the mentorship of Ozlem Yilmaz, D.D.S., Ph.D., chair of Oral Health Sciences. His presentation is titled Multi-level Modulation of Interleukin-6 Trans Signaling by Porphyromonas gingivalis in Epithelial Cells. In addition, Jaden was awarded a competitive AADOCR bloc travel grant.

Jaden will go on to compete in the International Association for Dental Research’s Hatton Competition.

Bridgette Wellslager, Ph.D. student, also qualified for the Hatton Competition as one of only eight national finalists.
