Alumni Awards celebrate outstanding graduates of the Medical University of South Carolina.
Awards Criteria
Distinguished Alumna/Alumnus
Each year, one distinguished alum from each college are honored for their dedication to the Medical University and their chosen fields. The MUSC Alumni Association expresses deep appreciation and admiration to alumni who bring honor not only to MUSC, but also their communities.
Eligible nominees are college graduates or resident graduates from MUSC who have exhibited one or more of the following in a clinical or academic/research setting:
- Made outstanding contributions to their profession.
- Demonstrated leadership in professional practice, education or community.
- Made an impact in their profession or community at a local, national or international level.
- Demonstrated high professional standards and commitment.
- Provided consultation to colleagues in an area of expertise.
- Exhibited extraordinary dedication to the advancement of MUSC, furthering its mission.
- Have not previously received an MUSC Alumni Award.
Emerging Leader
This award is given to recent graduates of MUSC (within 10 years of graduation) for exceptional leadership and dedication towards the Medical University of SC and/or their organized profession as a whole.
Consideration is based on the nominee’s contributions to MUSC as well as their contribution.
Distinguished Military Service
The award is presented to a graduate of MUSC and current United States military service member who has distinguished themselves through exceptional meritorious service and achievement while serving in the United States military.
