The College of Medicine has established a center supported by a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant for the advancement of women scientists. The Center for ARROWS (Advancement, Recruitment, and Retention of Women Scientists) will provide programs and supports specifically for female PhD scientists or similar female faculty focused on research.

Our mission

We are committed to supporting the advancement of women at MUSC. We achieve our mission by delivering a variety of programs that contribute to the professional growth of women across all colleges.

Our goals

  1. Increase the number of women (including URM) recruited by changing the applicant pool and hiring practices.
  2. Improve the retention and advancement of women (including URM) by achieving the critical mass, changing the promotion practices, and providing key supports.
