Students may leave a voicemail message. Appointments may also be scheduled on Life Net or by emailing the CAPS office (caps@musc.edu). Calls will be returned as soon as possible and within 1 business day.

CAPS Appointments

Please call the CAPS office at 843-792-4930 to schedule your first appointment. When you call to schedule an appointment, our staff will conduct a brief assessment in order to schedule you with the most appropriate provider, based on care needed, urgency, and staff availability.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers phone appointments or web-based appointments for students who are on rotations away from Charleston. Due to licensing regulations for most providers, the student must be within the state of South Carolina. If you have questions about this requirement, please call the CAPS office.

If you have been seen before at CAPS, you can use LifeNet to check your appointment date and time, schedule a follow-up appointment with your current provider, or cancel an appointment.

Cancellations

We understand that student academic obligations as well as unforeseen circumstances may sometimes make it necessary to cancel, re-schedule, or even miss an appointment; however, please try to provide 48 hours notice when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. You may cancel or reschedule appointments by callings CAPS at 843-792-4930 or by using LifeNet if you are a current patient.

For Emergencies

For emergencies after business hours, please call 911 or if you are an existing patient you can dial the MUSC paging operator at 792-2123 and ask them to page the psychiatry resident on call.
