MUSC Student Pre-Matriculation Requirements

Instructions for Meeting Requirements: All MUSC students are required to submit documentation of immunity/immunization to vaccine-preventable conditions prior to beginning semester coursework on campus. Maintaining these high standards protects the safety of the students, staff, and patients.
Forty-five days prior to classes, you should receive your MUSC NetID and password to use to access LifeNet. LifeNet provide you access to your Student Health Medical and Immunization Record. You will enter your immunization dates with supporting documents into LifeNet.

ENTERING RECORDS INTO LIFENET:

  • Log into LifeNet
  • Select “Medical Clearance” on the left side column on the home screen
  • Enter dates for all required immunizations, titers, and TB results.
  • Upload supporting documentation by selecting “Immunization Records.” (is located in the same column as your immunization requirements)

After you have entered your immunizations and dates into LifeNet AND uploaded the supporting documentation, a member of our staff will review your immunization documentation. Within one week you will be notified about your compliance status through LifeNet.

LifeNet will send an MUSC email notice to alert you of new messages in LifeNet.

HELP WITH MEETING REQUIREMENTS:

For incoming students with insurance that covers the cost of these services, lab and vaccine orders can be sent to you to take to any local LabCorp or Pharmacy. Your insurance plan will be billed.

For incoming students whose insurance will not cover the cost of a needed service, Student Health offers cost-effective lab vouchers you can purchase by phone (843-792-3664) Vouchers are brought to local LabCorp site for the blood draw. The lab results are sent directly to Student Health Services and our staff upload them to LifeNet. You will receive a secure message with the results.

  • Pre-Matriculation Vaccines Orders: Tdap, Td, Hepatitis B (Heplisav 2-series, Engerix Hep B three series) MMR, Varicella and Meningococcal
  • TB Screening Order: Quantiferon Gold (Lab order or voucher to be drawn at LabCorp)
  • Antibody Testing Vouchers: (Most Insurance Plans Do Not Cover Titers) Rubeola IgG (Measles), Rubella IgG, Mumps IgG, Varicella IgG, and Hepatitis B Surface Antibody (Quantitative) *All titers are drawn at LabCorp]

STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE:

MUSC requires all students to maintain health insurance as a condition of enrollment.

All enrolled students may be seen at Student Health Services, regardless of your health insurance plan. There are no charges for office visits or for in-office testing.

Insurance becomes necessary to cover services that cannot be provided in the clinic, which includes sending out labs, imaging studies, specialty referrals, emergency medical care, surgical procedures, medications, and hospitalization. You are encouraged to choose the insurance plan that best meets your needs. This plan can be a personal private plan, a plan through your family/spouse, or the school-sponsored student health insurance plan through BlueCross BlueShield.
