Dean Cathy Durham kicked off CON’s first floor renovation with a bang!

Literally! In January, we kicked off a complete renovation of the MUSC College of Nursing first floor to create a new area dedicated to learning and innovation for our students. Scheduled to open by the end of the year, this completely reimagined space will be a game-changer for collaboration, recruitment and engagement across the college. Here are just a few reasons I’m so excited about this project:

  • A cutting-edge skills lab featuring nursing simulation capabilities
  • Increased classroom space to support program growth, with a 1,700 square foot lecture hall that can be configured into smaller meeting rooms
  • A research hub to spark innovation and interprofessional partnerships
  • Areas specifically built for community and collaboration, including a lobby with lots of seating and device chargers, consolidated Student Services offices and a 1,200 square foot multifunctional common area adjacent to a kitchenette
  • State-of-the-art AV systems and technologies throughout the space to support in-person and remote learning

We plan to debut this sparkling new space by the end of the year, just in time to be part of MUSC’s Bicentennial celebration. 2024 is going to be an incredible time for MUSC and our college, and I hope you’ll make plans to visit campus soon. The Bicentennial website has a comprehensive calendar of events happening throughout the year, and this month’s Alumni Weekend will be a meaningful time to reconnect.

We cannot wait to welcome you home!

Cathy
