Multicultural Student Organizations

Alliance for disAbility Advocacy (ADA)
The Alliance for disAbility Advocacy is a student-led coalition of allies and students with disabilities dedicated to community support, awareness, and advocacy around disabilities issues. ADA provides a safe space for open dialogue about disability issues both seen and unseen with the goal of creating a mutually supportive community where students can share and learn about challenges faced by each other. 

Student Alliance for Equality (SAFE)
The Student Alliance for Equality (SAFE) is an organization of LGBTQ* students, faculty, staff, and straight allies at MUSC. The alliance is designed to provide a sense of community and support for those whose real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity places them in a historically marginalized group.

Alliance for Hispanic Health (AHH)
The Alliance for Hispanic Health of MUSC was created to provide a forum for MUSC students, faculty, and staff to collaborate to address the health needs of the Hispanic community including health care services, cultural awareness, student needs and recruitment, and research.

International Student Association (ISA)
The International Student Association welcomes and assists international students as they arrive on campus and plans and promotes opportunities for cultural exchanges among international and American students.

Multicultural Student Advisory Board (MSAB)
The Multicultural Student Advisory Board (MSAB) is composed of representatives from the minority student organizations in all six of the university’s colleges. MSAB provides opportunities for social activities and strives to improve the recruitment and retention of minority faculty and students.

MUSC Asian Student Association (MASA)
A campus-wide platform for all ethnicities across MUSC's 6 colleges to celebrate the diversity in Asian culture spanning from East Asia to Turkey. Social events with Asian food, volunteer opportunities with refugees, and immigrants, seminars with Asian professionals and speakers, and a place to meet someone new.

MUSC Black Student Union (BSU)
The MUSC Black Student Union (BSU) provides services and programs that address the needs and concerns of all students of African and African-American descent. BSU focuses on promoting unity throughout the African American community as well as spreading unity among students of other cultures at MUSC. The Black Student Union is committed to stimulating intellectual, political, and social growth as well as providing leadership opportunities, social events, and networking opportunities amongst our membership.

MUSC Gospel Choir
The Gospel Choir is comprised of students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members dedicated to using the gift of music to spread joy and uplift to MUSC and the surrounding community.

MUSC Jewish Association (MJA)
The goal of the MUSC Jewish Association is to create opportunities for members of the MUSC community to come together to experience and practice Jewish religious observances and cultural activities. The MUSC Jewish Association is open to all MUSC students, residents, faculty, and employees.

MUSC Students Creating Relationships and Uprooting BarrierS (SCRUBS)
MUSC SCRUBS is partnership between Meeting Street Elementary @Brentwood and the Office of Student Engagement. MUSC SCRUBS members work with MSEB to facilitate experiences that foster meaningful and intentional relationships between MSEB and MUSC students. Additionally, MUSC SCRUBS members introduce MSEB students to various health care topics through interactive programming and create pathways for MSEB students to pursue health care careers.

Student Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council (SDIAC)
The purpose of the Student Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council is to provide the students' perspective, input and advice to the Office of Student Engagement and to the Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The council advises university leadership on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion and provides strategic recommendations for addressing student diversity matters.

Student Diversity Leadership Council (SDLC)
The Student Diversity Leadership Council (SDLC) is an organization within the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) with an organization geared towards awareness of diversity related issues while providing service to underserved communities in the Charleston area.

Student National Dental Association (SNDA)
Student National Dental Association (SNDA) was created to encourage and promote minority recruitment/retention, to meet dental health needs of minority and underserved communities, and to create a relationship between the National Dental Association members and the students of this organization.

Student National Medical Association (SNMA)
The MUSC chapter of SNMA is committed to addressing the health care needs of the minority populations in Charleston, SC through actively participating in and sponsoring local health fairs, bone marrow drives, sickle cell testing, and a large number of other community service activities. We are also committed to informing minority students, on both the secondary and college school level, of the many employment opportunities available to them in the health care profession.

Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA)
SNPhA is an educational service association of pharmacy students who are concerned about pharmacy and health care related issues, as well as the poor minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professionals. The purpose of SNPhA is to plan, organize, coordinate, and execute programs geared toward the improvement for the health, educational, and social environment of the community.
