Biography
Derek Szafranski, Ph.D., is a staff psychologist in the Cognitive Behavioral Treatment (CBT) for Emotional Disorders Clinic at the Ralph H. Johnson Veteran Affairs Medical Center, as well as a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Szafranski completed his BS in psychology at Western Michigan University, his MA at the University of the Pacific, his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Houston, and his clinical psychology internship at the National Center for PTSD at the Boston Consortium. Dr. Szafranski has extensive expertise in administering structured diagnostic assessments and delivering evidence-based treatments for a variety of affective disorders, including a specialty in PTSD. Dr. Szafranski continues to be involved in PTSD treatment outcome research with a special emphasis on PTSD treatment dropout.
